The ATHENA program is all about celebrating, inspiring and advocating for women leaders and the contributions they make to our community. The event, held in March, will honor two exceptional professionals and leaders in our community.
• The ATHENA Award is intended to honor exceptional professionals and leaders, thus inspiring others to achieve excellence in their professional and personal lives. Award recipients will be individuals who have not only attained professional excellence and served the community, but also those who have actively assisted women in their achievement of professional excellence and leadership skills. They also will have contributed their time and energy to improving quality of life for others in the community.
• The Virginia Fry Rising Star Award honors a young professional who is already beginning to make a difference. This person will be an emerging leader and mentor in their chosen profession and in the community - someone age 40 or younger who is already beginning to light the way for women leaders.
Nominees must be living and must have provided such service in the Springfield area. Individuals serving on the Chamber’s current board of directors are ineligible. Nominees for the Rising Star Award must be age 40 or younger as of 12/31/2020.
