Chief Clinical Officer

The Chief Clinical Officer is a key member of the Executive Team in partnership with the Executive Director and the Chief Operating Officer, engaged in defining the overall strategy and direction of Lost & Found Grief Center. The CCO leads the overall vision and direction for the organization’s three Program Initiatives: Direct Services, Training and Education, and the Development of New Programs. Responsibilities include collaborating on the strategic development and implementation of innovative clinical programs and tools, as well as collaboration with strategic partners to further the mission of the organization.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Technical Knowledge and Skills
● Extensive knowledge of and passionate interest in childhood bereavement and family systems.
● Experience with grief, loss, and trauma as related to serving children, adults, and families.
● Experience working within a non-profit organization, health care, or clinical intervention setting.
● Demonstrated experience in academic conference presentations, professional training, and implementation, administration, and evaluation of training programs.
● Knowledge of evaluation practices and research methodologies.
● Familiarity with diverse populations and community resources.
● Publication of professional articles preferred.
● Exceptional capacity for training, managing and leading people.
● Organized, and able to systematically track multiple needs and issues simultaneously.
● Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
● Ability to take charge of a situation, overcome resistance, and take unpopular stances when necessary.
Innovative and Critical Thinking
● Strategic and innovative thinker with proven ability to communicate a vision and drive results.
● Ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget.
● Demonstrated ability to assess organizational needs, design and implement programs, and evaluate results.
Education and Formal Training
● Licensed Doctoral or Master’s level mental health professional with specialization or experience in the field of grief.
● A current unrestricted license in psychology, psychiatry, counseling or social work. Ability and willingness to obtain licensure in Missouri.
● Prefer a minimum of 3 years of post-Master’s clinical experience working both individually and in groups with adults and children.
● Prefer a minimum of 3 years of proven experience in clinical supervision, management, administration and program development.
● Prefer a minimum of 3 years of experience managing a staff of mental health professionals.
● Prefer a minimum of 3 years of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical education and training programs.
● Proven involvement/knowledge of research activities and processes.
● Serve as the internal leader of the organization’s program initiatives, partnering with the Executive Team planning and executing day to day operations.
● Cultivate the values of Lost & Found Grief Center within the organization.
● Lead and implement the clinical direction for the organization.
● Identify and define new and innovative strategies to achieve core initiative goals and objectives.
● Identify opportunities to collaborate and develop clinical, training, and research opportunities with other providers and partners.
● Present to the Board of Directors and serve on Board committees as needed.
● Supervise Program Coordinators, ensuring alignment with overall organizational strategic direction and best practices in grief care for children and families.
● Oversee development and implementation of grief support programs provided outside of Lost & Found Grief Center through community-based care.
● Collaborate with staff to develop innovative programs and services.
● Identify key community partners and assist with the expansion of programs to new audiences and partners.
● Provide direct services as needed and/or desired to stay connected to the mission.
Training and Education
● Manage the development, planning, and execution of all program related education and training, overseeing the design and delivery of presentations and publications.
● Collaborate with other program staff and grief experts on the development of curriculum and training materials.
● Identify current and developing trends in training and professional development.
● Foster the implementation of effective technology tools for training and education purposes.
● Work with Marketing Coordinator and other staff to create multimedia visual aids and presentations that support education and training efforts.
● Serve as a consultant to external professionals, committees, and projects.
● Work with Marketing Coordinator and other program staff to provide oversight of and content for social media platforms and website.
Research and Evaluation
● Work with staff, community partners, and other grief experts to ensure development of a useful program evaluation plan, including effective execution of data collection and utilization
● Work collaboratively with partners to assess and evaluate outcomes and best practices for each component of programs.
● Interpret, communicate, and incorporate research findings into program and educational planning, public speaking and awareness activities, policy and advocacy efforts, and engagement with Board members and other stakeholders.
● Collaborate with the Executive Team to oversee the settings and management of core initiative planning and budgets.
● Establish and ensure adherence to all policies, procedures, standards, and program curricula through direct supervision and support of program staff and volunteers.
● Develop agendas, schedule, and lead regular Program Staff meetings. Report relevant issues to other members of the Executive Team.
● Provide regular reports to the Executive Team to ensure accurate program, research, and training information for grant development and reporting and for donor development.

One location: Springfield, Missouri. Will require very little travel. This is not a remote position and daily, ongoing office presence is important for helping shape the culture as our small team.
