FLSA Status: Non-exempt
SALARY: $15.20 per hour plus benefits

This is a full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week. Candidates must be available to work Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm. As a condition of employment, work schedules may change as necessary to best provide user services and to meet the Library’s responsibility to the citizens of Greene County. Some travel throughout the Springfield-Greene County Library District from The Library Center in library vehicle will be required.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with work related experience. All candidates for this position must be at least 18 years old.
Education and experience shall be evaluated with regard to recency and quality, as well as quantity. Based on the number and quality of applicants, applications may be reviewed for qualifications beyond the minimums stated herein.

Performs general maintenance tasks for all library buildings, such as drywall repair, carpentry, flooring repair, painting, basic plumbing and electrical and more
Detects, identifies and repairs building issues, including basic electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems
Safely operates library vehicles and other motorized equipment as needed
Conducts routine maintenance on equipment and building systems
Completes safety checks and insures that all safety equipment and systems are functioning properly including smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
Keeps repair tools and supplies clean and organized
Performs basic groundskeeping including, but not limited to, some mowing and snow removal
Performs supplementary pest control
Performs inventory on repair supplies
Assembles and installs new furniture or equipment
Moves shelving, furniture, equipment and supplies
Interprets and implements the Library’s General Conduct Policy
Timeliness: The employee must be punctual and timely in arriving to work and completing tasks. The employee must also be capable of working all of the hours in their assigned shift.
Ability to work with others and the general public: It is essential that individual who works in this position have the ability to work and interact in a cooperative, pleasant, and constructive manner with others.

Skills/Job Knowledge
- Good communication skills, both oral and written, and effectively listen to and respond to inquiries
Problem-solving and critical thinking skills to regularly have to diagnose issues and develop effective solutions
Basic understanding of electric systems, painting, carpentry and plumbing
Some expertise in a variety of systems, equipment and tools to effectively complete complex projects
Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work responsibly without direct supervision
Basic computer skills
Basic knowledge of MSDS, safety practices and procedures
Education/Experience
High School diploma or equivalent
Mechanical aptitude and some evidence of successful experience required
Some on-the-job training will be provided
Must be at least 18 years old (Minimum age for MO Class E Driver’s License)

Physical Demands
- This job can be physically demanding, requiring workers to adjust heavy equipment, squeeze through tight spaces, climb tall ladders and carry heavy objects.
Performs bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, twisting and reaching both to ground level and overhead, hold and grips objects, subject to working in awkward positions and periods of prolonged walking, sitting, or standing
Working Environment
Will perform work indoors and outdoors with exposure to a variety of extreme weather conditions
Susceptible to mechanical and electrical hazards associated with equipment and wiring
May be exposed to potential safety hazards such as noise, poor lighting and ventilation, fumes, odors, etc.
Must be able to perform work on ladders and in confined spaces
Miscellaneous Requirements
Must pass a security background check
Must pass a pre-employment drug test
Must pass current motor vehicle record review
Valid Class E driver’s license and safe driving record
