POSITION:       Talent Retention Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Workforce Development Manager

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

  • The Talent Retention Coordinator will be fully responsible for membership, outreach and programming the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s talent retention committee known as The Network for Springfield’s Young Professionals.

  • This committee and related programming are focused on cultivating civically and socially engaged young people who are nearing college graduation and/or are young professionals in the region. Committee programming for college grads includes introducing them to the Chamber and the SBDC, and to leadership opportunities that exist throughout the region.

  • As the staff member responsible for the vibrancy of this program and its execution, the Talent Retention Coordinator must exhibit the ability to engage members and sponsors and develop the programing, execute the daily administration of the committee’s activities, and work with the Senior Vice President of Economic Development and team, to strategically position the Chamber, the SBDC and The Network as the leaders in talent retention efforts in the Springfield Region.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Including, but not limited to the following:

  • Develop and oversee programming and outreach efforts to engage soon-to-graduate area college students in the region regarding the career and growth opportunities in the region.

  • Maintain database of community connections, especially pertaining to colleges, for continual outreach via presentations, distributing promotional materials, and attending on-campus events.

  • Work with the Committee leadership and staff, develop and oversee programming and recruitment efforts to engage young professionals (21–39-year-olds) in The Network in ways that help them accelerate their careers, build their personal networks, and aid the community.

  • Plan all programming and execute logistics for The Network’s forty-five recurring annual events, including: Civic Engagement Series, Local Leadership Series, Living in SGF Series, Socials, Get Outside with The Network, New to The Network, and more.

  • Plan and execute The Network’s annual YP-summit, SGForum each summer.

  • Professionally execute all necessary administrative tasks to ensure that The Network runs smoothly including, but not limited to, maintaining membership database, managing billing, tracking delayed members, budget planning and management.

  • Provide direct staff support to The Network, and to the Leadership Council.

  • Manage the Leadership Council, and The Network’s task forces, including regular meetings and follow-up action items, and plan all programming and execute logistics for all Leadership Council events.

  • Manage annual Vice Chair application process.

  • Coordinate with The Network Chair for all responsibilities associated with the role and oversee all community opportunities specific to The Network’s Leadership Council.

  • Recruit new members to The Network and ensure existing members renew their memberships.

  • Develop sponsorship opportunities for The Network and manage sponsor relations through Total Resource Campaign.

  • Communicate with the membership of The Network through a periodic and regular communications plan, including through E-Newsletters, Website, and social media.

  • Represent the Chamber and SBDC at various committee and board meetings, as needed.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Demonstrate strong writing and presentation abilities.

  • Provide initiative to bring creativity and innovation to assigned projects.

  • Effectively communicate with team members and demonstrate follow-through and strong accountability for the program.

  • Exhibit attention to detail and provide ownership to the program.

  • Possess the ability to understand and integrate with other Chamber departments and external organizations.

  • Work with diverse groups and provide exemplary customer service.

  • Possess strong organizational and information technology skills.

  • College degree preferred.
