ZIMMER MIDWEST COMMUNICATIONS LAUNCHES NEW RADIO STATION IN SPRINGFIELD
Zimmer Midwest Communications (ZMC), a local media and broadcast company, is making big improvements and changes to the Ozarks ’media landscape. Today, ZMC will launch a new radio station and relocate another. Lite Rock Favorites – the Dove will debut on 98.7FM and the Jock will now be heard on 96.9FM and 1060AM.
Zimmer entered into a Local Management Agreement with Meyer Communications in Springfield, which was effective July 1. Zimmer will assume ownership of the wide-coverage area stations, pending FCC approval. Zimmer’s new local media cluster features three of Springfield’s most powerful radio stations, providing clients with the biggest coverage area of any local media in the Ozark region. These radio stations include the historic KWTO – Keep Watching the Ozarks, established in 1933, and home of Rush Limbaugh. The stations feature flagship coverage for Missouri State Bears football and basketball, the Springfield Cardinals, and air the University of Missouri football and basketball games.

Zimmer Midwest Communications owners Don and John Zimmer are sons of the late southern Missouri radio pioneer Jerome Zimmer. The Cape Girardeau native started his first radio station in 1956 with a partner in Dexter, Missouri. In 1966, he started KZYM in Cape Girardeau, one of the first country music stations in the nation.
