60 Minutes to Success| Built to Last: Preparing Your Business for What’s Next

Tuesday, September 29, 2026 (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

Join us for a conversation on how small business owners can strengthen the health, value and long-term readiness of their businesses. Succession planning is often viewed only through the lens of retirement, but the same preparation positions an owner for an unexpected absence, an emergency, a future transition or an eventual sale.

Attendees will hear directly from Lance Coffman, Missouri Small Business Development Center at Missouri State University, on how the Value Builder assessment helps owners measure business health and identify what drives value. Sativa Boatman, Assertion Law Firm, will cover the legal documents that protect a business when the unexpected happens and how to preserve family-owned businesses. Business broker Joe Howard, Kingsley Group Business Brokers, will walk through valuation: what it is, what the process looks like, what the numbers mean and what an owner should do with them.

Craig Wright, Strategic Financial, will moderate the conversation and bring in the personal financial and retirement planning perspective. Together, they will share what makes a business more valuable, what owners can do now, and how to build a plan that holds up under any circumstance.

For owners thinking about what comes next, this session will provide a practical starting point for understanding where the business stands and what to do next.
