Public Policy Speaker Series: Partners Across the Atlantic — U.S.–Iceland Relations

Tuesday, September 22, 2026 (8:00 AM - 9:30 AM) (CDT)

Description

The Springfield Chamber invites you to join us for our next Public Policy Speaker Series featuring Ambassador of Iceland to the United States Svanhildur Hólm Valsdóttir and U.S. Ambassador to Iceland Billy Long.

During this conversation, the ambassadors will share their perspectives on the relationship between the United States and Iceland, their respective diplomatic roles and the importance of strong international partnerships. The program will offer attendees a unique opportunity to hear directly from representatives of both countries and gain insight into the connections and shared interests that continue to shape the U.S.–Iceland partnership.

A longtime southwest Missouri leader, Ambassador Long previously represented Missouri’s 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives before entering diplomatic service as U.S. Ambassador to Iceland.

Ambassador Svanhildur Hólm Valsdóttir has served as Iceland’s Ambassador to the United States since 2024. Prior to her diplomatic appointment, she served as Secretary General of the Iceland Chamber of Commerce and held several senior advisory roles within the Government of Iceland.

Join us for this unique conversation exploring the partnership between the United States and Iceland and the role of diplomacy in strengthening relationships across the Atlantic.

Registration is $25 and includes breakfast.
