Business Operations Director
Job Summary:
The Business Operations Director is a key member of the Child Advocacy Center’s leadership team, responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient, and trauma-informed operation of the organization. This role oversees the day-to-day administrative, financial, and operational functions of the Center, aligning internal systems and processes to support high-quality services. The Business Operations Director ensures that the organization functions effectively, sustainably, and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
General Duties and Essential Functions:
1. Operational Leadership
Manage daily administrative operations to ensure organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
Oversee facilities, equipment, and IT systems to support safe, accessible, and trauma-informed service delivery.
Develop and implement internal policies, procedures, and systems to support growth and compliance.
2. Financial and Administrative Oversight
Partner with the Executive Director and finance staff to develop and monitor the annual budget.
Monitor financial reports, cash flow, and expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility.
Assist in the preparation and management of grants, audits, and financial reports.
3. Contracts and Records:
Maintains all CAC signed contractual agreements, leases, and insurances.
Coordinates and interfaces with all contracted vendors.
Maintains all business records to ensure archive requirements are met.
Provides materials and data to staff, board, committees, and public as requested and appropriate.
Maintains all board, committee, and vendor records.
4. Human Resources and Staff Support
Support HR functions, including onboarding, training, staff development, performance management, and compliance with labor laws.
Ensure internal policies reflect trauma-informed workplace practices.
Partner with leadership to promote staff wellness, mentorship, and professional development.
5. Facilities and Safety Management
Ensure the physical space is safe, welcoming, and trauma-sensitive.
Oversee facility maintenance, security, and emergency preparedness.
Lead risk management initiatives, including safety drills and incident response protocols.
6. Business, Technology, and Data Systems
Oversee implementation and maintenance of all hardware, software, and communication platforms.
Oversee deployment and maintenance of business systems, including copiers, printers, phones,
Maintain inventory and end-of-life schedules for all equipment.
Ensure systems meet privacy, confidentiality, and security standards.
Facilitate training for staff in technology use and data procedures.
7. Strategic and Organizational Planning
Participate in strategic planning, goal setting, and execution of organizational priorities.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and help drive continuous improvement efforts.
Represent the organization in community initiatives or with external stakeholders as assigned.
8. Engage in high-quality, professional practice reflective of the Child Advocacy Center’s policies and procedures, state and federal statutes, accreditation standards, contractual conditions, and established best practices.
9. Participates in team meetings, supervision, professional development, and where appropriate, represents the CAC in task forces and committees.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Specific Job Skills:
1. Ability to translate organizational goals into actionable operational plans.
2. Ability to develop and implement quality improvement systems.
3. Ability to implement risk assessment, safety planning, and emergency response coordination.
4. Ability to use time to maximum efficiency through organizing and prioritizing daily workload.
5. Ability to produce written documents accurately and clearly formatted within stated time frames.
6. Ability to accurately and regularly maintain records requiring statistical reports.
7. Ability to read, interpret, and generate nonprofit financial reports.
8. Highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks/demands.
9. High level of computer skills, specifically Microsoft suite, to complete all duties and tasks required.
10. Calm, solution-focused leadership during stressful or emotionally difficult situations
Education/Experience/Training:
1. Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, business administration, or related field. Master’s preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership or operational management experience, preferably in a nonprofit or multidisciplinary setting.
Special Requirements:
1. The Child Advocacy Center seeks individuals that are personally and professionally committed to the safety and protection of children.
2. Satisfactory criminal background investigation and a CA/N screening as a condition of employment.
3. Visual acuity necessary to read and develop CAC materials.
4. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
5. Willingness to accommodate limited travel and work evenings if necessary.
6. Must acknowledge and adhere to the CAC’s confidentiality policy and procedures and must adhere strictly to the highest professional ethics, confidentiality, discretion, and judgment.

About the Child Advocacy Center:
Founded in 1995, the Child Advocacy Center provides abused and neglected children in Southern Missouri with a safe place to talk about their experiences and begin their healing journey. The team of professional advocates, forensic interviewers, and medical personnel work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members to investigate allegations of child maltreatment and ensure safety for children and their non-offending caregivers.
