Job Summary
The SBA Underwriter is responsible for reviewing and interpreting credit and financial statements for current and potential borrowers and making recommendations regarding the extension of credit. Candidates need to be able to identify credit requirements based on funding method, including commercial, SBA, FSA, and USDA. Duties include gathering and tracking financial information necessary for analysis, preparing and presenting results with customers, monitoring credit activities to identify potential underwriting exceptions, interaction with government agencies regarding guaranteed loan approval, funding and servicing. Performs complex financial mathematical calculations and activities that require a thorough, detailed review of all documents used and created in the credit review process. In addition to credit, the SBA Underwriter is responsible for understanding and complying with government agencies guidelines to determine loan eligibility.
Primary Location/Schedule:
- Hybrid work environment; weekly schedule requires a combination of on-site and home office hours.
- Onsite: 3110 S Delaware, Springfield, MO 65804
- Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; weekends and evenings as needed
- Fulltime; 40 hours per week average
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Commercial Credit Analyst/Lending experience preferred
- A combination of education, training or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of government guarantee loan guidelines for structuring and funding is ideal.

- Ability to create a home office that allows for the handling of private and confidential data, documents, and conversations.
- Excellent customer service and strong communication skills
- Strong mathematical, problem-solving and computer skills
- Excellent attention to detail and work organization skills
- Ability to apply and enforce regulatory standards for ethical behavior, confidentiality and information security
- Ability to maintain productivity standards while working independently, with minimum supervision
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel or similar program
- Strong organizational skills, including multi-tasking.
