Purpose of Associate Board

The Associate Board serves as ambassadors of inspiration and champions of confidence for all Girls on the Run participants. As a dynamic leadership engine in Southwest Missouri, the Board promotes the GOTR mission through strategic events, community-based fundraising, and school engagement—bridging participants, the Board of Directors, and the local business community to expand outreach, cultivate resources, and inspire the next generation of confident girls.

Experience Recommendations: Ideal candidates are emerging professionals with 0-5 years experience in event planning, fundraising, or youth engagement. We are seeking leaders who are comfortable networking throughout Southwest Missouri, cultivating sponsorship revenue, networking with sponsors, and the planning and execution of events. Above all, they are passionate about the purpose, mission, and vision of Girls on the Run.  

Commitment: General Member = 5 hrs/mo; Cabinet Member = 8 hrs/mo

Goals: Leverage the time, networks, and resources of the Associate Board to help build the capacity of GOTR of SWMO.

  • Support the Board of Directors in the execution of fundraisers, special events, and community outreach, as needed.

  • Collectively raises $7,000 yearly for GOTRSWMO by:

  •  Planning & executing at least one annual signature event.

  • Individually meeting a financial commitment of $250/year

    • Hosting local Give Back events and other community fundraiser events.

    • Makes an annual financial contribution of $250 (give/get).

    • Serve as a SoleMate

Relationship to Board of Directors:

Our Associate Board is the winning combination of meaningful engagement and leadership development and a way to build a foundation for the future. Each month, a board member will attend the associate board meeting to support their ongoing infrastructure, provide insight into networking and event planning, and keep the connection between the Board of Directors and the Associate Board.

Relationship to Staff:

ED will work directly with the Associate Board President to create leadership development opportunities, establish governance, and assure the Associate Board’s purpose and strategy remain in alignment with GOTR’s mission and vision.

Term Length: Two-year terms for all board members. Members may serve two consecutive terms.

Meeting Frequency and Location: Monthly, after the Board of Director meetings.

In-person preferred. Additional event-focused meetings may occur as needed.
