Hotel Vandivort
Hotel Vandivort is excited to be open for June's Art Walk! They will be featuring Hailey Paige in the hotel lobby from 4:30 - 10 pm. Featured Artist – Hailey Paige I began painting in 2003, in my Junior year of High School. There was something so peaceful about it, and quickly it became my escape. I painted on paper, cardboard, poster board, abandoned barns, whatever I could find. I wasn’t very educated on different paints, so I mostly used Tempera paint for the first couple years. Thankfully, I soon discovered Acrylic, and that has been my go-to ever since. It’s an emotional thing, these paintings. Like a living thing from that moment. I can go back to many pieces and feel what was in that notch in time. Like a journal entry, or photo. For a long time I tried to force away the weirdness in my work. It was so frustrating to me that it was my style. I eventually gave into it, due to the unbelievably productive vent that was able to take place. I started noticing the uniqueness in the abstract and fell deeper in love. There’s usually about ten layers of pictures throughout the process of each piece. I turn the canvas a hundred times before I have any idea what’s going on. Many times there’s pictures on every turn. I rarely understand the meaning, until days to months after completion. My most used color by about ten times is white.

"Christina Cory is the “C” behind T&C Bee Co., a family-run beekeeping operation she shares with her husband. Together, they have been hobby beekeepers for 14 years and currently care for nearly 50 hives. As a third-generation beekeeper, Christina has always loved learning new skills and exploring creative outlets connected to nature. Her journey into encaustic painting began after attending a workshop at the National Beekeeping Convention. Inspired by the process, she quickly fell in love with the art form and its endless possibilities. Encaustic painting uses pigmented wax applied with a heated iron, creating layered, one-of-a-kind pieces full of texture and movement. Christina currently focuses on landscape artwork and finds joy and peace in the creative process, embracing the uniqueness of each piece as the iron meets the paper."
