VOLT CREDIT UNION "PAYING IT FORWARD" CAMPAIGN RAISED $2,618.18 FOR THE CONNECTING GROUNDS IN SPRINGFIELD

Springfield, MO The cold snap and rolling blackouts in February resulted in a burst pipe that flooded the entire first floor, including the lobby at our headquarters location on Republic Road. This unfortunate event started a unique “Paying IT Forward” campaign at Volt.

Loretta Roney, our President and CEO, could have just focused on the misfortune of what happened. Instead, she knew other people were also struggling during this time, including The Connecting Grounds in Springfield, MO. The Connecting Grounds is a group committed to serving the needs of the homeless and the underprivileged in our community. They were going through their own struggles with frozen pipes and desperately trying to help the homeless find warm places to stay during the dangerously cold weather.

Volt’s Pay It Forward campaign started on February 16th as part of our 85K sparks initiative to impact 85,000 people in our community. Volt sought and matched all donations up to $1000 to benefit The Connecting Grounds. We are grateful to our Volt members and the people of our community who stepped up to help this worthy cause.

On Friday, April 23, Loretta Roney, President and CEO, Vicki Owens, Chief Experience Officer, and David Lovelady, Marketing Director, met with Christie Love, founding pastor of The Connecting Grounds Headquarters. During a tour of The Connecting Grounds facility, we discovered they do so much – from basic medical care, haircuts, clothing, furniture for people getting their first apartment, and so much more. One of their missions is to LOVE OUT LOUD, and we sure felt it for all that they do for the underprivileged in our community. Volt was proud to present a check for $2618.18 to The Connecting Grounds.
